I shot gorgeous Dmitry Chaplin at the Geisha House in Hollywood for a DIOR promotion a while back and thought I’d post them since he is on the hit ABC show Dancing With The Stars. This year he is partnered with supermodel Petra Nemcova. I mean talk about a gorgeous couple!

I shot Alex O’Loughlin and Scott Caan, better known as Steve McGarrett & Danno Williams from the hit CBS TV show Hawaii Five-O for an amazing cause. Not only are these two guys just awesome to be around and very easy to look at [wink], they have incredible hearts, which makes them even more gorgeous! As many of you know, I became involved with Life Rolls On, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injuries; when my little niece Maile participated in a World Record Wheelchair Event at Dodger Stadium . The NSP surfboard was donated by Aaron Rutledge and Tony Rutledge from Star Beach Boys, passed around set to get autographed by the Hawaii Five-O Cast; Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park and then photographed by myself. A Los Angeles Fashion Shoot at Union Station, MOCA and Walt Disney

This was a photo shoot held last Sunday in downtown Los Angeles with my friends from the LA Jerry Ghionis workshop back in January. Despite Los Angeles having wonderful weather for the past couple weeks, last Sunday was not only cold, but RAINING…and raining HARD. We all met up at Philippe’s in downtown for some famous French Dip sandwiches and to discuss the game plan for the photo shoot. Our models, Ivone and Biannca met us at Union Station, which was just down the street. The group of us sat in those cozy chairs in Union Station and waited while hair and makeup artists did their thang. Once the models were ready, we began our shoot there and made our way to the Museum of Contemporary Arts, Los Angeles also known as MOCA. However, once we made it to that location, it was completely dark and the weather had dropped even further. It was a chilli! I mean brrrrrrrrrrr. Although the rain stopped, the cold, freezing air was going right through all of us, ESPECIALLY the models. I was bundled up pretty good, but my hands and fingers were frozen! But, they all hung tight and we shot through the night and decided to thaw out by going to Ochoron Ramen in Little Tokyo. Yummy! Scott Cohen – Fitness and Athletic photography | Portraits

I was hired by Actress Lisa Vidal to shoot her son Scott a few months ago and we shot in downtown Los Angeles to get some urban street shots of Scott. But when we were done, both Lisa and I thought it would be great to get some athletic shots of Scott, since he is an avid soccer player and has quite the body. So, we setup a mini 2nd photo shoot a few weeks later in Studio City, CA. However, since I’ve been a bad blogger, they never made it online. Bad me. I know, I know. Ugh. I think part of my slacking in blogging has been a combination of lots of work, lack of time and also my fear of writing. I do realize that those are just excuses and I need to step it up and be a better blogger. So I will. I will try to play as much catch up as I can and promise to blog all photo shoots coming up.

Fashion/Edgy LA Galaxy Player Scott Cohen

Actress Lisa Vidal wanted to get some shots of her son Scott, so she booked a full day of portraits with me and we shot in downtown Los Angeles to get that urban street feel she was looking for. People often say he looks like actor Taylor Lautner and most recently singer Justin Bieber; but, I think Scott has a very distinct look of his own, I mean those eyebrows and lips are just made for modeling! And for those of you wondering about the Vidal vs. Cohen thing, Lisa’s maiden name is Vidal, got married 20 years ago to Jay Cohen, who both now have 3 children, Scott being the oldest.

Here are a few things about Scott:

He’s been playing Soccer since he was like 5, currently plays for LA Galaxy and is an AMAZING Soccer player.
His father is from Brooklyn, so he’s got that East Coast Flavor, (hence the 718 area code tat on his arm)
Loves his black BMW
Works out EVERYDAY!

Once this shoot was done, I thought it would be cool to do some athletic shots of Scott, so we scheduled another mini shoot focused on athletics and of course, his well defined body. Shots from that shoot will be on another post. I did manage to snap a few shots of his body during this 1st shoot, because abs like that need to be photographed.

And, ladies, he’s only 17, so easy now. I’m starting the post with pics of mama and son…

Color vs. Black & White

I thought I would post a few images showing how color and black & white can affect an image. Below are three images taken of the same model to show how color affects the mood of a photo. I shot all three images in color and converted them to black & white to everyone can see how different the photo looks. You can always convert a color to black & white, but can not do the opposite. I occasionally shoot black & white in camera if I know that is the look I’m going for. Why? It will make for a better exposure, less time in editing and often a better black & white image. Black & White images are so classic and timeless to me. I love them, but often you need to have those vibrant colors to bring the image to life. Any hoo-hoo, here are some images for you to see and choose what you like better for yourself.

The Swedish Model Andreas

Here are some images from a fashion model shoot I did for Andreas last month. This model flew in from Sweden specifically to meet with FORD modeling agency in Los Angeles. This was a business trip for him with for modeling, so we scheduled a fashion shoot to build up his portfolio. Andreas is an avid soccer player back in Sweden and has been approached by several modeling agencies. He finally decided to pursue his modeling career, hence his meeting with FORD (who loved him by the way). Keep your eye out for this International Model, he will be signing with some big agencies and you’ll see him blow up. This guy is going to get a ton of work. Don’t be surprised if you see him on ads for CALVIN KLEIN, HUGO BOSS, ABERCROMBIE & FITCH and many other fashion companies. I just picked a few of my favs to post here. On a side note, we were in the middle of our shoot when I noticed a book that was left on the bench. I couldn’t help but ask him to pick it up and read it. I thought it was so funny to see this hot model reading a very common book we all know.

Ok, so maybe the last few shots are very “fashiony”, but come on! Is this classic or what? A little kid left it sitting there and I just couldn’t resist. It’s a classic book!

It seems I have been taking photos of some gorgeous people lately and Andreas is no exception. This model is going to blow up soon in the modeling world. Seriously. He flew in from Sweden just to visit FORD Models in Los Angeles and shot with me the very next day. So cool! Any hoo-hoo, while I have been busy with so many projects, I didn’t want to fall out of blog world, so I thought I would post an image from our fashion session I did a couple weeks ago and what better way to tease you all with a gorgeous Sweden model! Can you feel how HOT this post will be once I get his edits online? Stay tuned!!!

HOT people at Geisha house – Hollywood

The Geisha House in Los Angeles, CA is partly owned by Ashton Kutcher and the scene for some serious sushi and very chic asian vibe. Located in the heart of Hollywood, this restaurant was a great backdrop for this photography fashion session. The vibrant colors, seductive lighting and hot models made this photo session fun and enjoyable. Keenan Dior will be hosting an event here and asked me to shoot the promotional pieces to use for the black and white themed event. The models included Dancing With The Stars very own Dmitry Chaplin and Anthony Royer. They were accompanied by three hot models; Jade, Stephanie and Alma. So, with one hot venue and six hot models, my job was easy. We started off getting some of those sexy shots for Keenan, since he will be the host. What guy wouldn’t love having three beautiful women draped over him? He is THE MAN! Once we did that, we strutted around the restaurant and setup some really cool shots. I also want to give a big thanks to my friend Anwar for coming out and helping during this amazing shoot. It was rather dark in here, so none of these shots would’ve been possible if it weren’t for my assistant Lisa as well. So, thanks guys for all your help. *HUG*.

I shot this on Sunday, so I just did a quick edit and decided to post a few of my favs to share. I will most likely post a few more as time permits, but for now, enjoy thes. All 6 models were HOT, so my job was easy. Take a look for yourself.

A boy and his BUSA on the beach…

Okay, so maybe it’s not “his” busa. And, maybe it IS his dad’s HAYABUSA motorcycle. But, for the purpose of this post and for the sheer fact that he was the one photographing next to it during this photo shoot, let’s just say it was his!

.His father; my brother, has been the proud owner of this fierce bike for a few years now and my nephew Kenny-Boy was in need for some new pics, hence my title to this post. While I was visiting Honolulu last month for the holidays, my brother asked if I could take some pics of his youngest son. I thought it would be cool to do some shots with the motorcycle, since both of them are bike junkies. AND, I do mean junkies, (my brother also owns a drag-bike and another motorcycle in addition to this Busa). So, I thought the busa was only appropriate. My brother actually took me for a “spin” on his Hayabusa bike while I was back home and it is FFASSSSSSSSST. Crazy fast. Kinda cool though.

Now, Kenny Boy was my baby since he was the youngest of my nieces and nephews until recently, when my oldest brother had 2 little beautiful baby girls, kicking Kenny Boy out of the “baby” slot. LOL. Anyway, you can see a baby picture of Kenny boy by clicking here. Yeah, maybe it’s not a “baby” picture, but you get the point. You can see how little he WAS. Yes, was. Even though he is all grown up, bigger and taller than his father, he will always be my little Kenny Boy.

We started taking a few pics in front of the house, just to get some shots, but I thought it would be cool to go down to the beach and get some night shots with the bike. We decided to take a spin to the west side of the island to see if we could also get some city lights in the background. After driving around for a while, the city lights weren’t going to happen since the clouds were hovering over us. Instead, we found a beach park and decided to make a go of it. You can see the palm trees though! LOL. By the time we started shooting, it was midnight, so we didn’t spend a whole lot of time shooting. We just got a few shots and then headed home. Because it was so dark, I needed some extra assistance with lights to get the shots. So, here is a thank you to my assistants: my niece Gaylynn ( side lighting tech), my brother Hap ( primary lighting engineer) and my sister-in-law Darling (focusing light assistant). It was quite funny setting up these shots. I love my family! Here are the pics of my little BIG Kenny Boy. Love you!!! xoxo
