Valentine’s Day AND a New Year Celebration!

What a special day today is. I have a big smile for everything there is to celebrate today, just glowing :-).  Happy…happy…joy…joy! First, February 14th is most famously known as Valentine’s Day, a day to celebrate love and affection with those closest to you, especially your “significant” others. While many might disagree in the celebration [most are males… ;-)], I think it’s great to dedicate one day out of the year to L•O•V•E. I do. I mean this is day when the world celebrates love, isn’t that just awesome? Maybe it’s because I’m a girl who simply loves love! Whatever the case, Valentine’s Day rocks and I love it!

Secondly,  today is also the day of the Chinese New Year and home of the Tiger, meaning the year of the Ox has officially come to an end. [whew]. The Ox was definitely challenging for me in so many ways, so I am thankful and glad that it’s finally over. WOOOOOT!. Bring on the Tiger. Goong Hi Fat Choy!

Lastly, my mother’s oldest sister Velma’s birthday is today! Yes, she was a Valentine’s baby.  While she wasn’t too fond of having her birthday on Valentine’s Day, I always thought it was great to be born on a day known for LOVE.  But, that’s just me. She and I were very close and shared a very special connection. One thing that I always remember is how we both made each other laugh. Such great memories. She was like a mother to me and when she passed years ago, I was honored to give her eulogy at her funeral.  That was a difficult task for me to take on, because of my emotions. However, I managed to pull it off and let everyone know what a special, gifted, talented and wonderful person she was.  I miss her terribly and often wish I could pick up the phone and call her, whether it be for advice, directions on cooking one of her famous meals or just simply chatting. While she is no longer here with us, I do constantly think about her and miss her tremendously.  She is one of my many angels that watch over me from above.  Now, it gets even better, she was also a Tiger! You see….. there is so much to celebrate and I am just ecstatic. What a great, great day. I’m going to soak this one up, enjoy it, relax and be happy!  I wish everyone a very Happy Valentine’s Day, may your day be filled with LOVE. I also wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous new year. Today is a perfect day to celebrate love, laugh and smile!

I’m posting an image of myself with my Aunt that was taken years ago. Happy Birthday Aunty Vel, you are always in my thoughts and prayers. I love you and miss you so much!
